Our focus will be threefold: generate new work, develop new writing habits, and to learn from close reads of our own work as well as a carefully curated set of poems for the course — all around the theme of urban naturalism (themes will include close observation, the natural world, emotion, and the environment).
As always, the theme is meant as a guide and prompt, and does not preclude any subject you find yourself drawn toward to write about.
Our goals will be to establish a positive environment for producing poems, learn from critical feedback, and participate in a supportive, creative, and observant community. Expect to leave the workshop with at least 5 new poems.
